What is NEXUS?
NEXUS is a bi-national, Canada-United States program for pre-approved, low-risk travellers entering Canada or the United States (U.S.) at designated air, land and marine ports of entry.

The program enables its members to enter either country more quickly and easily by using automated self-serve kiosks in the air mode of travel, dedicated lanes in the land mode of travel, and by calling Telephone Reporting Centres (TRCs) prior to arrival in the marine mode of travel.

What are the benefits of using NEXUS?
In the air mode, NEXUS members avoid long line-ups and save time using automated self-serve kiosks at eight designated Canadian international airports.

As an added benefit, NEXUS members can now be expedited through Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) airport security screening lanes, when travelling on domestic and select international flights (excluding travel to the United States) located at eight Canadian airports:

-Vancouver International Airport

-Calgary International Airport

-Edmonton International Airport

-Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport

-Toronto Lester B. Pearson International Airport (T1 & T3)

-Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport

-Montreal Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport

-Halifax Robert L. Stanfield International Airport

Members must present their valid NEXUS card to access the Trusted Traveller CATSA Security Line.

In the land mode, members enjoy a quick and simplified entry process using dedicated lanes at 17 designated land border crossings.

In the marine mode, members report by phone to a TRC from 30 minutes up to four hours prior to arrival when travelling to approximately 430 marine sites in Canada.

NEXUS enables the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers to focus their efforts on unknown and potentially higher-risk travellers and their goods.

Is there a fee involved to apply for NEXUS?
Yes. There is a non-refundable processing fee of $50 in Canadian or U.S. funds.
