The ability of fluids to flow through geo-materials is predicated on interconnected pore networks (preferential flow paths). In an oil reservoir these tortuous flow paths result in much of the in-place oil being bypassed by injected fluids consequently leading to poor reservoir sweep in water or CO2 floods or less than effective well stimulations using treatment fluids such as acids.

Powerwave overcomes preferential flow paths through the generation of sharp fluid pulses that cause momentary elastic flexure of the pore structure, allowing injected fluids to move into and out of a larger number of pore networks thus obtaining a more uniform injection front. Powerwave is universally applicable to virtually all oilfield fluid injection processes.

What can be expected with Powerwave? Based on field history Wavefront’s guidance to perspective clients is:

1. Production increases of 25 – 200% for the pattern wells. Timing > 4 months but < 12 months.
2. Pattern production increase ≥25% for Powerwave project by 12 months.
3. Increased recovery factor of 2 – 5% of OOIP in the longer term.
